Lady X

Promise me you’ll let me stay;

And I’ll promise not to stand in your way;

Let me wave to you from below;

As up and up you continue to grow;

I won’t force you to take my side;

I won’t ask to be made your bride;

I won’t ask you to reveal your heart;

I will let myself be the one you outsmart;

I’m willing to face the hatred you fake;

Because I know you did it for my sake;

But leaving me behind for my own good;

Was a cruelty beyond what you should;

I can deal with the words you spit in my face;

But I can’t handle your actions to put me in my place;

Maybe all along your “I love you” was a lie;

Maybe you never really were the good guy;

But I didn’t care because you lived in my heart;

I guess though we’re over cause I played my part;

I played the loving girlfriend perfect without flaw;

Letting everyone around us marvel in awe;

But now you’re on top and have no need for me;

Tossing me out and calling it setting free;

You could have either made me family or foe;

You made your choice so now I will finally go;

I will no longer fight to be a character in your life;

I will no longer worry about what’s causing you strife;

Now that I’m alone I can finally see;

The reason you would put the world before me;

Every move you made was led by greed;

Money, the true reason behind each good deed;

People thought you an angel because of your heart;

And so did I at least at the start;

I never doubted you until you left;

Now I see all your lies and theft;

It wasn’t until you broke me down to tears;

Could I finally see the person you had hid all these years;

A lost little boy a slave to green and gold;

A lost little boy, now a man with a heart turned cold;

From now on I will not mourn over you;

I will never again trust what appears to be true;

One day someone will love me in a way that is right;

Someday someone will show me love is not a solo fight;

So I’ve learned my lesson you had to teach;

And I hope this is a lesson for us each;

Because I lost a boy who never cared for me a cent;

But you lost a woman who said I love you and every word she meant...
