There once was a girl made of coldness and ice;
Called by many names but never once nice;
She lived in a palace of glitter and stone;
Too afraid to go outside so she stayed in alone;
Then one day she saw a boy walking past;
Finally, she thought, she had someone at last;
But the boy kept walking with the sun at his heel;
So the girl decide to make a bold appeal;
She waited till morning when she saw him again;
And rushed to him immediately leaving her den;
The boy turned to her with sunlit hair;
And reached out to her with an arm so fair;
She stepped back afraid of his glowing light;
For never in her life had she seen someone so bright;
“Don’t be afraid”, he smiled holding out his hand;
“It’s just that I come from a far away land”;
And it was true she could tell right away;
For she was like nighttime and him like the day;
While whatever she held immediately turned cold;
Whatever he touched turned warm and turned gold;
He was the opposite of her in every way;
And oh how that made her wish he would stay;
“Don’t leave” she begged as he stepped back;
For she was greedy and knew he had what she’d lack;
“I’ll be back soon” he promised with a smile;
“There’s others that need help I haven’t seen in awhile”;
But as he left he looked back at her unsure;
Making her realize that he was her cure;
He could save her and help her to live;
Even if it meant giving all he had to give;
She then noticed a flicker on his sunny face;
For just a second darkness taking its place;
Who would be there to help her sunny boy;
Who was there to refuel his sunny joy;
She watched him with wonder as he walked away;
Promising next time around she’d make his day;
Next time she promised to repay her debts to him;
Next time she’ll never let that light become dim
